Foundation of CHICO Hängematte GmbH

Despite many skeptics ("Hammocks - who needs such a thing!") the foundation of CHICO Hängematte GmbH takes place in Oepping.
The first part of the parental farm is rebuilt for the new factory.

CHICO HAMMOCK CHAIR

The long time of testing and fiddling around has come to an end! The first hammock chair by CHICO from Oepping is launched.

Made in Austria

Many companies are relocating their production facilities to the nearby Czech Republic to be able to produce cheaply.
We, on the other hand, remain firmly committed to our strategy: Made in Austria

Another reconstruction of the farm - the CHICO weaving mill and the carpentry get more space.

In the "cowshed", people are now talking on the phone and are doing business. Of course after the old vaults and rooms have been carefully renovated. :-)

Guinnes book of records

12 meters length, 3.8 meters width and 2 tons load capacity

CHICO is making history and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records with the largest hammock in the world.

Finally we got it: Our first e-shop is online!

New branch

The "Mühlviertler" sets off for the big city.
In autumn, we open our own branch in the 7th district of Vienna and now have a third main pillar next to the CHICO head offices in Eugendorf and Oepping.

Being repeatedly approached by customers, we develop a hammock frame made of stainless steel.

project "Africa-Burkina Faso"

In Burkina Faso, 700,000 tons of cotton are harvested annually, and yet the country is one of the poorest in the world. It lacks the technical prerequisites for processing the resource in large quantities. This is exactly where CHICO would like to help, so that more added value remains in the country.

1. GENERATION CHANGE

Hildegard Rohrmoser retires after many years of successful entrepreneurship and hands over the management to Sylvia Katzlinger.

Georg Katzlinger takes over the operations management and procuration. His tasks also include mechanical engineering, where he is actively supported by Makus Katzlinger Automation.

The heads in our "mechatronics department" are spinning ...
In these two years Georg and Markus Katzlinger plan and build two woodworking machines and a new weaving loom.

Who needs that?

CHICO

"Hammocks - who needs such a thing?" sceptics said 33 years ago. Our 18 employees currently produce and sell around 10,000 CHICO products per year.
And, of course, still "Made in Austria".
